Mackie Myers have partnered with a growing organisation in Oxfordshire to appoint a Financial Accountant into their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business during an exciting period of growth.

The Role

The Financial Accountant is responsible for:

  • Delivering accurate financial reporting
  • Managing the month-end process
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements

Additionally, the role involves supporting audit, tax, budgeting, and process improvements while partnering with stakeholders across the business.

Main Duties:

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports
  • Manage the month-end close, including journals, accruals, and prepayments
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Prepare VAT returns and support statutory accounts and year-end audit
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow reporting
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards
  • Support process improvements and finance systems enhancements
  • Partner with stakeholders to provide financial analysis and insight

The Successful Candidate

  • Must be ACA or ACCA Qualified (or equivalent)
  • Requires previous financial accounting experience, ideally within industry or practice
  • Needs a strong understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102), statutory reporting, and VAT
  • Must have advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
  • Should possess strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills
  • Expected to be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement
