Salary: Up to £53,000 based on skills and experience
Contract Type: Fixed Term – 12 months – 35 hours a week
Location: Hybrid working (office based in Birmingham) – typically 2 days in the office per week

Make a Difference in the financial control team
As a Financial Accountant, you'll be at the heart of maintaining financial integrity across the Society and its regulated businesses. Working closely with the Group Financial Accounting Manager, you'll ensure accurate accounting records, strong financial controls, and full compliance with regulatory, statutory, and company requirements.
Your Impact
Here’s how you’ll make a difference:
- Take ownership of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, delivering accurate reporting, robust controls, and insightful financial analysis.
- Prepare and review statutory and regulatory reporting, including Annual Reports, Solvency II submissions, and subsidiary accounts.
- Lead the production of technical accounting papers and support complex accounting judgements throughout the reporting cycle.
- Contribute to Group Management Accounts, MI, budgeting, and quarterly board reporting, providing meaningful insights to support decision-making.
- Partner with auditors and key stakeholders to deliver compliant regulatory returns and statutory accounts for subsidiary entities.

What You’ll Bring
- A Qualified accountant (ACA) with strong technical accounting knowledge and a commitment to delivering high-quality financial reporting.
- Ideally, you will have experience working in a mid-tier accountancy practice and will have the ability to support on accounting papers and research.
- You’ll be an excellent communicator and relationship builder, able to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels and provide outstanding internal and external customer service.
- You’ll have a strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify solutions, and support informed business decisions.
- You’ll be highly organised and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
