My client is a prestigious and rapidly growing international Private Equity business, seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join its London finance team. With a global footprint and a highly respected reputation across the alternatives investment market, the firm is continuing to invest in its people, infrastructure and finance capability as it enters an exciting new phase of growth.

This is a highly visible role, offering broad exposure across the business and direct interaction with senior stakeholders. Sitting within a collaborative finance function, you will play a key role in financial control, statutory reporting, group consolidations and business partnering activities, while helping to drive process improvements and support strategic initiatives across the organisation.

The successful candidate will take ownership of financial reporting across multiple entities, work closely with auditors, tax advisors and global teams, and contribute to the ongoing development of a best-in-class finance function. It will also have a lot of opportunity and scope for finance change and improvement of processes. This opportunity would suit a technically strong accountant looking to grow their career within a leading alternative investment platform.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
