Background
We are seeking a proactive Treasury focused individual to join the team.
This role sits within the Financial Accounting, Tax and Treasury team in the University’s Finance Directorate. The team is responsible for financial reporting and statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with tax, audit and regulatory requirements, supporting corporate financial planning and balance sheet management, overseeing treasury activities including cash forecasting and covenant compliance, and maintaining financial oversight of university subsidiaries and investments in spin-out companies.
Responsibilities
The Financial Accountant – Treasury provides specialist support across financial accounting functions, with key responsibility for treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, investment management, covenant reporting, and related administration. The role also covers endowment and donation management, bank and investment reconciliations, and foreign exchange valuation. It includes financial oversight and reporting for at least one subsidiary company, support across wider financial accounting duties, and participation in month-end, year-end, and audit processes, alongside providing cover within the wider finance team.

Person Specification
Candidate ideally should be a qualified accountant with post-qualification experience. A strong background in financial accounting, tax, and treasury functions. Educated to degree level or possessing equivalent professional experience, with the ability to provide accurate financial information and support informed decision-making. A person who demonstrates an understanding of compliance, governance, and data protection requirements, alongside awareness of equality, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability principles. Experience in working within complex administrative environments and building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is also desirable.
