Financial Accountant
Salary: £55,000-£60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Dorset
Hours: 37 hours per week
Closing date: 10 July 2026
We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Group Financial Reporting team. This is a key role where you’ll take ownership of external regulatory reporting for the Aster Group, including VAT, NROSH, and annual financial reports.
You’ll play a vital part in supporting the year end audit, providing technical accounting guidance, and driving process improvements. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively and making a real impact.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing statutory accounts for subsidiary companies and supporting the group’s consolidated accounts.
- Assisting with the year end audit and responding to queries to ensure a smooth process.
- Coordinating and delivering regulatory financial reporting, including VAT returns and submissions to HMRC.
- Providing technical accounting support across the business and staying up to date with reporting requirements.
- Leading and developing an Assistant Financial Accountant through effective delegation and coaching.
- Championing continuous improvement and supporting process enhancements across finance.

About you
A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with at least two years post-qualification experience in financial or management accounting. You have:
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including consolidation and statutory accounts preparation.
- Experience with audits and external reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of VAT and corporation tax, ideally within the housing sector.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage with stakeholders and external advisers.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to review work critically and constructively to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to manage workloads and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Experience managing or mentoring others.
