Financial Accounting Manager - Data Centre Infrastructure

Financial Accounting Manager – EMEA Accounting & Reporting (Data Centre & BytePlus Entities)

About the Team:

The EMEA Accounting and Reporting function leads General Ledger (GL) accounting and oversees month-end closing procedures across subsidiaries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The team collaborates on accounting projects, provides technical support, ensures compliance with statutory requirements, and plays a key role in preparing financial statements while maintaining relations with external auditors.

We are seeking a highly motivated Financial Accounting Manager to join the EMEA Accounting and Reporting team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will lead the accounting and reporting workstream for Data Centre and BytePlus operators across the EMEA region, working cross-functionally with Infrastructure, Procurement, Tax, and Business Finance. Core responsibilities include ensuring accuracy and integrity of CapEx, leasing, and B2B revenue flows.


Responsibilities:

  • Own the GL accounting and month-end/quarter-end closing for Data Centre and BytePlus entities across EMEA, covering:
    • Capital expenditure (CapEx)
    • Depreciation
    • Leasing (IFRS 16)
    • Accruals and prepayments
  • Manage accounting for data centre infrastructure investments, ensuring:
    • Correct capitalisation
    • Useful life assessment
    • Impairment reviews
    • Proper disposal accounting
  • Oversee accounting for BytePlus B2B revenue streams, including:
    • Revenue recognition under IFRS 15
    • Contract reviews
    • Deferred revenue
    • Intercompany recharges
  • Prepare and review monthly reconciliations between IFRS and local GAAPs for all entities in scope, ensuring:
    • Timely and accurate reporting packages to Group Finance
  • Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and manage external auditor relationships to deliver timely statutory audits.
  • Act as the liaison for external accounting service providers, ensuring:
    • On-time and accurate monthly/quarterly reporting deliverables
  • Partner with Tax, Treasury, and Legal on:
    • Intercompany agreements
    • Transfer pricing inputs
    • Cross-border invoicing arrangements relevant to Data Centre and BytePlus operations
  • Stay updated on relevant accounting standards (IFRS) and apply:
    • Group accounting policies
    • Internal controls
    • Best practices across EMEA entities
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives, including:
    • Streamlining month-end close
    • Optimising reconciliation workflows
    • Enhancing reporting cycles
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis for:
    • UK/EU regulators
    • Group Finance
    • Senior management

Qualifications: Minimum

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Fully qualified ACCA/ACA with 5+ years of post-qualification experience
  • Practical and theoretical expertise in audit, with in-house experience preferred (TMT/Infrastructure/B2B/-Saas exposure highly valued)
  • Proficiency in:
    • IFRS and its impact on reporting, especially IFRS 15 (Revenue) and IFRS 16 (Leases)
    • CapEx and Fixed Assets accounting at scale
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and geographies

Qualifications: Preferred

  • Experience with large-scale ERP accounting systems, with familiarity in Oracle/Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) preferred
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, with strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently in dynamic environments
  • Fast learner capable of adapting to changing demands
