Faculty/Directorate

The Finance and Procurement Directorate develops and delivers the financial strategies that support the achievement of the University’s Strategic Plan, whilst maintaining and promoting sound financial oversight and governance in managing the university’s finances.

Role

The Financial Accounting Manager is a senior role responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the University's financial reporting. The postholder will lead statutory reporting, month-end and year-end processes, oversee the implementation of forthcoming FRS 102 changes, support financial governance and capital programmes, contribute to the SAP for Futures programme, deputise for the Head of Financial Accounting, and lead a small team.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent) with substantial financial accounting experience, including statutory reporting, month-end and year-end processes, financial controls, and audit. They will have a proven ability to lead and develop teams, drive process improvements, support ERP finance systems (ideally SAP), and provide high-quality financial advice. Strong analytical, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, together with a proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to high standards of governance, are essential.
