The Purpose of the Finance Analyst Role
The purpose of the Finance Analyst role is to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable month end financial reporting by managing Network, ICSS and Additional Services accounting, revenue calculations, accruals, and invoicing.
The role works closely with the Finance Business Partner to understand in month activities, supports high quality management and statutory reporting through robust balance sheet reconciliations, and acts as a key point of contact for billing and customer queries, while also supporting audits and finance system improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting
- Month-End Accounting
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of all Network Opex and Capex, including journaling of accrued expenses and income
- Work closely with the Finance Business Partner to understand in month activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable accruals and management reporting
- Responsible for month end additional services revenue calculations, invoicing, and responding to customer queries
- Responsibility for ICSS revenue accounting, including cash and prepayment journals
- Produce month end financial reporting, including in month, month end, and year to date results analysis
- Production of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and financial reporting standards

- External audit support as required
- Support implementation of Finance System upgrade and lead on changes required to existing processes
Reporting and Analysis
- Produce the Network Operations Opex and Capex results monthly with supporting commentary, accurately and in line with the month end timetable for Management Accounts
- Understand the relationship between business activities and the drivers of Operations Opex to identify Opportunities and Risks, proposing appropriate remedial or re-enforcing actions
Forecasting
- Support Senior Business Partner with forecasting with insights and challenge.
Role Expertise
This role requires strong financial accounting knowledge, analytical capability, and the ability to communicate complex data in a clear and accessible way. The postholder must be confident in managing relationships across finance and non-finance teams, interpreting business drivers, and delivering actionable insights.

The postholder must be comfortable handling large datasets and using Excel to support analysis and reporting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- Financial accounting knowledge and experience managing stakeholder relationships
- Part Qualified or recently qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA or qualified through 5 years experience in a finance role
- Ability to work accurately to deadlines
- Ability to prioritise effectively

- Intermediate Excel skills
