The Role:
Our client is seeking a Finance Analyst with strong data modelling expertise to own, build and maintain key financial models across budgeting, loan book performance, funding structures, scenario analysis and sensitivities.
This role is ideal for someone with advanced Excel model-building skills who enjoys working with complex financial data, translating assumptions into robust models, and providing clear analysis to support commercial and strategic decision-making.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Own, build and maintain financial models used for budgeting, forecasting, funding analysis and loan book performance tracking.
- Develop and manage budget models that support annual planning, reforecasting and management reporting.
- Build and enhance loan book models, including analysis of portfolio performance, cash flows, repayments, defaults, arrears, yields and other key assumptions.
- Model complex funding structures, including debt facilities, repayment waterfalls, interest calculations, covenants, drawdowns and refinancing scenarios.
- Perform scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess the impact of changes in key assumptions such as interest rates, default rates, prepayments, funding costs, growth rates and macroeconomic variables.
- Translate business assumptions into clear, logical and well-structured Excel models.
- Work closely with Finance, Treasury, Operations and Senior Leadership teams to gather inputs, validate assumptions and explain outputs.
- Prepare clear analysis and commentary to support board packs, investor reporting, funding discussions and internal decision-making.
- Maintain strong model governance, including version control, documentation, audit trails, checks and controls.

Experience Required:
- Preferably part-qualified or qualified accountant
- Industry experience is highly desirable given complexity and nuances of Financial Services balance sheets.
- Advanced Excel skills, with demonstrable experience building complex financial models from scratch.
- Strong understanding of financial modelling principles, including assumptions, outputs, checks, controls, sensitivities and scenario design.
- Experience modelling loan books, lending portfolios, structured finance, debt facilities or funding arrangements would be highly advantageous.
- Highly numerate and analytical
- Comfortable with technology and open to innovation, including AI and automation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to engage credibly at all levels and work pro-actively with business partners.
