Finance Assistant | Fuel Learning | Measham

We are looking for a talented individual to join our team as Finance Assistant at an exciting time of growth. The role is based in our Measham office, and reporting to the Finance Manager.

This role is integral to our organisation and involves completing financial tasks accurately and efficiently, while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

The Finance Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day and transactional elements of the finance function. They will also be involved in assisting with queries from the Finance Apprentice. The successful candidate will work confidentially and in a highly organised way to provide process-driven finance support.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Finance Assistant you’ll carry out tasks in all areas of finance, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general accounting functions. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Raising customer invoices
  • Chasing outstanding customer purchase orders
  • Ensuring that customer accounts are accurate and up to date
  • Approving and processing expense claims and reimbursements
  • Ensuring accurate recharging of expenses to customers
  • Reviewing supplier invoices, querying discrepancies and inputting them into the accounting system
  • Supplier statement reconciliation and chasing suppliers for missing VAT invoices
  • Credit control processes
  • Credit card and bank reconciliations
  • Co-ordinating daily financial tasks with the Finance team to optimise workflow
  • Maintaining a record of all financial transactions, documents, and supplier information
  • Assisting the Finance team with budget planning and expense analysis

Skills & Requirements

To be successful as the Finance Assistant you’ll need:

  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • High levels of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
  • Be a strong team player with solid communication skills and a willingness to influence and challenge stakeholders
  • Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping procedures
  • Good knowledge of MS Excel
  • Previous experience working in a financial or bookkeeping role
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software, like QuickBooks
