Finance Assistant

£30,000 - £35,000 + Benefits
Shropshire/Worcestershire Border | Full-Time | Office-Based

Our client is a highly successful and award-winning food ingredients manufacturer with an annual turnover approaching £20 million. Supplying products to a number of globally recognised bakery brands, they continue to experience sustained growth and are now seeking a Finance Assistant to join their established finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to develop their career within a dynamic and growing business, working closely with an experienced Finance Manager in a varied and hands-on role.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial processing and contributing to the smooth operation of the department.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Raising and processing multi-currency customer invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Managing all aspects of accounts receivable, including credit control, customer queries, debtor reporting and issuing monthly statements
  • Conducting credit checks for new customers and reviewing credit limits for existing accounts
  • Performing daily bank reconciliations and ensuring transactions are correctly recorded
  • Assisting with month-end procedures and reporting activities
  • Managing stock verification, valuation and reporting processes
  • Monitoring and responding to finance-related enquiries through the accounts inbox
  • Supporting weekly payment runs, ensuring supplier and PAYE payments are made on time
  • Processing weekly payroll and assisting with pension administration
  • Supporting external audit requirements by preparing documentation and financial information

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a finance or accounts environment and be comfortable managing a varied workload in a fast-paced business.

You will possess:

  • AAT qualification (or equivalent) – desirable but not essential
  • Experience using Sage 50 Accounts and Sage Payroll
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving
  • The ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Experience working effectively within a busy finance team

  • Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

Additional Information

This is a fully office-based position, working 40 hours per week.

Due to the rural location of our client's offices on the Shropshire/Worcestershire border, there are no public transport links available. Applicants must therefore have access to their own transport.
