About us
Balance is building the AI that takes over back-office finance: the manual, repetitive work that has eaten finance teams' time for decades. We’ve just closed a $4.5M Seed round led by Google Ventures, and we're a team of 6 growing fast.
Balance is now looking for finance people who would rather build the future of their field than spend another decade inside a ledger.
This is not a bookkeeping job
It is three jobs you would normally have to choose between, in one role that grows as you do.
- You set the standard. Balance's AI does the bookkeeping. You are the expert who decides whether its work is good enough, corrects it when it is not, and feeds back the judgement that makes it sharper. You are the bar.
- You own the relationship. You look after a portfolio of clients and become the person they trust with their finances. As the AI takes on more of the work, this becomes the heart of the role.
- You help build the product. You sit close to the engineers, spot the parts of your own day that should not exist, and help automate them. Your ideas become reality.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Here is the part most finance roles cannot offer: the finance work is where you start, not where you stay. As the AI takes more of it on, your job tilts towards the things that compound, owning clients and shaping the product.
What you'll do
- Review and validate the output of our bookkeeping agents (you're the quality bar)
- Own the month-end close for a portfolio of clients
- Be the go-to person for your clients - the one they message when something looks off or they need a sanity check
- Turn what you see into feedback that makes the product better and work with the engineering team on what gets built next.
- Own and grow relationships with a portfolio of clients. Be their point of contact for everything to do with their finances.
You'll fit in if
- You have real finance experience, in a role where you have handled balance sheets, profit and loss, and the rest
- You are genuinely curious about AI and automation. The people who thrive here get a kick out of removing their own busywork, and some of them turn up having built things themselves
- You want pace and ownership. The team moves fast, the days can be full, and you will carry more responsibility than you would almost anywhere else at this stage
- You actually enjoy working with clients - not just spreadsheets
- You're comfortable in a startup where the playbook is still being written
- You can be in the London office at least three days a week, full-time.
