Financial Controller – Engineering division
Location: Nottingham
Reports to: Head of Finance
About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of financial control, governance and reporting across our £300m+ Engineering Division. This is a pivotal role at the heart of the business — you'll be the custodian of the Division's financial integrity, working closely with the Head of Finance to maintain a disciplined control environment that supports profitable growth, effective cash management and risk mitigation.
Leading the Financial Accounting and Transactional Shared Services teams, you'll shape how we report, control and improve our finances, while developing a high-performing team around you.

What you'll be doing
- Owning and continuously enhancing our financial control framework, ensuring balance sheet integrity across all entities
- Leading monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, providing insight and variance analysis that supports real decision-making
- Coordinating budgeting and quarterly forecasting, reviewing and challenging assumptions to keep them grounded in reality
- Leading statutory reporting, tax compliance and audit processes, keeping our records audit-ready year-round
- Owning divisional cash flow reporting, including the rolling 13-week forecast submitted to Group Finance
- Driving finance process improvement, systems optimisation and automation across the Division
- Leading, developing and growing the Financial Accounting and Transactional Shared Services teams
What you'll bring
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, with significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance leadership role
- Financial Controller experience within a large engineering, technical services, infrastructure, construction or manufacturing business
- A strong track record in financial control, governance, compliance and audit management
- Experience leading Financial Accounting and Transactional Shared Services functions
- Solid technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP
- Experience with ERP systems and finance transformation initiatives
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build a high-performance culture
