Financial Controller | Central London - Zone 1 | Hybrid (3 days office based)
Salary: Up to £100k + Benefits

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a growing retail organisation entering an exciting phase of development. With ambitious growth plans and continued investment across the business, our client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and help shape its next chapter.
This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a technically strong finance professional who enjoys balancing operational delivery with strategic input. Working closely with the CFO, you'll play a key role in strengthening financial controls, enhancing reporting, and providing the insight needed to support informed business decisions. You'll also have regular exposure to senior stakeholders, including the executive leadership team and board.
Leading a small finance team, you'll be responsible for driving high standards, developing capability, and ensuring the finance function is well-positioned to support continued growth.

Key responsibilities include as the Financial Controller:
- Leading the preparation of accurate and timely management and statutory financial reporting.
- Overseeing multi-entity accounting, financial controls, and compliance with relevant accounting standards and statutory requirements.
- Producing board and management reporting, delivering meaningful analysis and commercial insight.
- Managing cash flow forecasting, working capital, treasury activities, and financial planning.
- Supporting funding relationships, external advisers, auditors, and other key stakeholders.
- Providing technical accounting expertise and ensuring robust financial governance.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a small finance team while driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Contributing to finance systems enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives.
In this Financial Controller position, you will be/have:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience of statutory reporting and audit management.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally.
- Confident communicator, able to build relationships and influence stakeholders across the business.
- Previous experience within retail, consumer goods, multi-site or a fast-paced commercial environment would be advantageous.
