Financial Controller, 6 Month Fixed Term Contract, Marketing Services, £80-85,000

Trace are delighted to be partnering with an exciting agency within one of the major marketing communications networks. We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Financial Controller to oversee financial reporting, controls, and operational finance within a dynamic environment. This hands-on role partners closely with senior leadership to ensure robust financial governance, support business performance, and drive continuous improvement across finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate and timely month-end reporting, forecasting, and P&L variance analysis
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity through regular reconciliations, payroll reviews, and intercompany accounting
  • Monitor key financial metrics, including revenue, work in progress (WIP), accruals, and accounts receivable
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate external audit requirements
  • Partner with budget holders to develop, monitor, and optimise operating cost budgets
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment, ensuring compliance with internal policies and SOX requirements
  • Lead compliance testing and identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve finance processes

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Previous Financial Controller experience within a professional or service-based organisation
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative leader with the confidence to influence stakeholders and drive improvements
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
