Financial Controller Opportunity

Financial Controller opportunity with a well-established, highly regarded, and well-known Merseyside business operating in the Leisure/Retail sector. Reporting directly to the CEO, managing a Financial Accountant, and working alongside a Finance Manager who is responsible for the management accounts team, your remit will include:

  • Leading the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual group financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
  • Consolidation of financial results for all subsidiaries and business units.
  • Timely and accurate reporting to internal stakeholders, external auditors, shareholders, lenders and other regulatory bodies.
  • Playing a key role in the Group’s budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with all UK tax regulations and accounting standards.
  • Working with the Group’s external tax advisors to comply with UK CT tax filing obligations.
  • Managing the relationship with external auditors and overseeing the annual audit process.
  • Ongoing development of internal financial controls to meet business demands.
  • Overseeing the Group’s cash flow, working capital, and liquidity position to ensure financial stability.
  • Managing relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
  • Working as a key financial advisor to senior leadership, providing recommendations to support decision-making.

Our client is ideally looking for a practice trained, ACA or ACCA qualified Financial Controller/Senior level Financial Accountant, but they will also consider CIMA finance professionals who have worked in a similar profile role covering the financial/technical accounting areas outlined above. Practice trained professionals who have already gained industry experience are preferred, although first-time movers may also be considered depending on experience. A salary of £70-80k is complimented with benefits including pension (Contributions matched up to 8%), 25 days holiday, Hybrid working (3 days Office : 2 days Home) and on-site parking. This is an excellent opportunity to join an impressive, well-established business and a friendly, collaborative down-to-earth team in a hands-on Financial Controller role. Applicants must have full and indefinite eligibility to work in the UK (through being a UK citizen or having gained ILR) and should live within a sensible commute of Liverpool.
