Financial Controller | High-Growth Retailer

Location: London - Hybrid 4 days in office
Salary: DOE
Position: Full-time

We're partnering with an ambitious, high-growth consumer business that has curated a market-leading brand through innovation, quality, and a relentless focus on customer experience. Following continued expansion across the UK and international markets, the business is looking to appoint a Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in the next stage of its growth.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced organisation where finance is viewed as a true business partner. Reporting to an incredible Finance Director with plenty of exposure to senior leadership, you'll lead a small finance team while driving financial control, reporting excellence, and continuous improvement across the finance function.

You'll take ownership of the financial control environment while helping to build scalable processes and systems that support an evolving, high-growth business. Alongside ensuring robust financial reporting, you'll play a key role in improving efficiencies, strengthening controls, and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, including balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
  • Lead the year-end process, including statutory accounts and external audit.
  • Oversee month-end reporting for the Board and Executive leadership team, providing meaningful commercial insight and analysis.
  • Partner with budget holders across the business to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.
  • Drive improvements to financial systems, processes, and internal controls, identifying opportunities for automation and greater efficiency.
  • Management of the finance team (3 FTE).
  • Support the business as it continues to scale, ensuring finance remains fit for future growth.

About You

We're looking for a technically strong finance leader who enjoys improving processes as much as producing accurate financial information.

  • Qualified Accountant – ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Strong financial control and management reporting experience.
  • Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller role within a product-led, retail, FMCG, or consumer business.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience managing audits and statutory reporting.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on role within a scaling, entrepreneurial environment.
  • A passion for systems, process improvement, automation, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach with the confidence to influence stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
