Role details
An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a fast-growing manufacturing business in North Warwickshire. This role is suited to an experienced manufacturing finance professional who can deliver accurate financial reporting while supporting operational performance. You will lead the month-end process, produce management accounts, and oversee cost accounting, inventory reporting, and manufacturing performance analysis. Working closely with operational teams, you will identify cost-saving opportunities, drive process improvements, and provide financial insight to support decision-making. The role also includes responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, capital expenditure analysis, and financial oversight of the property portfolio.
Responsibilities of the Financial Controller
- Efficiently close monthly ledgers and prepare detailed management accounts including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and working capital analyses.
- Maintain and develop comprehensive cost accounting systems for all business activities, ensuring accuracy and relevance to support ongoing operations.
- Analyse production costs, material costs, labour costs, overheads, sales trends, margins, and direct and indirect costs, providing actionable insight to improve profitability and operational performance.
- Prepare and review standard costs and variances, investigating significant differences, identifying root causes, and providing clear explanations to senior management.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve efficiencies, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the production environment.
- Lead the annual budgeting process for the manufacturing division, producing rolling forecasts and scenario analyses to support business planning.
- Monitor and report on key manufacturing performance metrics, including yield, waste, downtime, and inventory performance, supporting informed operational decision-making.
- Assist in preparing capital expenditure proposals by evaluating financial viability, risks, and expected returns.
