I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Internally, we’re proud to have been recognised by Tempo and the Startups 100 Awards as one of the UK’s best places to work. We care deeply about building an ambitious, supportive and high-performing team. We started life 10 years ago as Feast It, a two-person marketplace launched from a kitchen table - and today, over 10 million guests a year attend a Togather-powered event. Across every project, our mission remains the same: To make events better for everyone.

The Role: Be the person who owns our numbers end to end: We're looking for a hands-on, commercially minded Financial Controller to take full ownership of finance across the group. Our finance function has grown function-by-function rather than by design, and as we scale across two businesses, manage a major profit-share partnership and work towards a possible sale, we need a capable senior owner to bring it together and raise the bar. This is a step up from the role it replaces. You'll own the full group profit-and-loss, run a clean and timely close, get on top of working capital, and build the kind of financial infrastructure an acquirer would expect to see. The ambition is to eventually support you with a fractional CFO for senior strategic input, but the day-to-day ownership, and the quality of what we report, will be yours. You'll report to the Chief of Staff to begin with. We see this as its own seat, with real room to grow as the function matures, whether that's into a more senior finance leadership role over time or as the anchor of a finance team you help shape and build out. How far it goes is genuinely up to you. Why this role is more senior than the one before it: Finance has become materially more complex. We now run two businesses after acquiring Field Vision Bars, the Live Nation partnership needs its own profit-and-loss and cash view, intra-group recharges need to be clean, and there's likely to be an audit next year. That points to a more capable, more independent finance lead than a like-for-like replacement, someone who can hold the bar with advisors and the wider team without needing to run everything through the founders. Essential A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). An audit or practice background is strongly preferred. Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager stepping up, or similar, owning a finance function end to end. Strong technical accounting and month-end close expertise, with a track record of running a clean, timely close. Hands-on with cash flow forecasting, working capital and credit control. Comfortable being the most senior finance person in the room day-to-day, holding advisors and the team to account. Genuinely commercial: you can turn numbers into a story and a recommendation, not just a report. Confident with modern finance tooling and keen to use automation and AI to build a systems-first function. Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where the function is still being built. Nice to have Experience in events, hospitality or another seasonal, high-volume, complex business. Multi-entity or group accounting experience, including intra-group recharges and consolidation. Exposure to exit preparation, due diligence or an audit process. Experience with profit-share or partnership accounting. Hybrid working - 3 days in the office Generous holiday allowance; 25 days (including a Christmas Closure) + bank holidays Enhanced Pension through salary sacrifice Partnership with Benefits Platform Mintago; EAP service, Workplace Nursery, Cycle to work scheme, Electric car scheme, Health services, Mental Health services, Gym discounts, retail discounts and much more Partnership with Code app: Significant discounts in a lot of London's best restaurants, bars and more Enhanced Mat & Pat leave Free coffee, beer, pizza and an overly stocked snack cupboard in the office Regular team socials and events (including 6 weekly Town Halls with companywide socials & 1 Away day a year) A shiny new MacBook to work on Loads of invites to food-industry events (yes they do usually have free food) Dog-friendly office
