Financial Controller (Part Time, 1 Day per Week Initially)

North West England preferred | Hybrid / Remote
1 day per week initially | £600 to £800 per day depending on experience

About Us

We are a growing retail technology business developing predictive analytics and automation solutions for supermarkets and FMCG businesses. Our customers range from independent retailers through to large enterprise organisations, and we’re entering an exciting phase of international growth.

We’re looking for an experienced Financial Controller to become our first dedicated finance professional. Initially this is a one day per week role, but we expect it to grow as the business expands. For the right person, this is an opportunity to build the finance function from the ground up and ultimately progress into a Finance Director position. Although the business is still relatively small, our customer base, investor expectations and growth ambitions mean we’re looking for someone who can provide both excellent financial control and commercial support to the leadership team.

The Role

This is a genuinely broad role where you’ll take ownership of the entire finance function. You’ll be responsible for everything from raising invoices, processing payroll and preparing VAT returns through to management accounts, forecasting, investor reporting and supporting commercial decision making.

There isn’t a finance team beneath you, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands on. One day you may be reconciling the bank, processing supplier payments or preparing payroll, and the next you could be reviewing a pricing proposal, preparing board papers or discussing forecasts with investors.

You’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team, providing commercial challenge as well as ensuring the business has strong financial controls and accurate reporting.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
