Financial Controller

Chalk Hill Group has been retained to appoint a technically competent but commercially aware Financial Controller for an ambitious international business entering an exciting new phase of growth. Based in Watford, there will be an expectation to be in the office 3 days a week, although there will be a need to be there more often in the early stages.

Following recent investment, the business is embarking on a period of transformation, creating a rare opportunity for an experienced finance leader to take ownership of the finance function whilst playing a key role in shaping its future. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll work closely with the senior leadership team, influencing strategic decisions and driving business performance.

This is a No.1, hands-on leadership role with genuine progression to Finance Director.

The Role:

You'll lead the finance function, manage a small team and take ownership of financial reporting, controls and compliance, while acting as a trusted commercial partner to the leadership team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
