Financial Controller

Financial Controller – East Kilbride, C£55K–£60K + Package

About the Role

We are partnering with a fast-growing and ambitious business to appoint a Financial Controller—an ideal opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of day-to-day finance operations.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you’ll play a critical role in:

  • Ensuring operational excellence across the finance function
  • Delivering accurate financial information to inform decision-making
  • Maintaining strong financial controls and compliance
  • Collaborating closely with operational and commercial teams to drive efficiency and financial insights

The organisation operates in a project-led environment, having achieved strong growth through organic expansion. This is a hands-on role within a dynamic, collaborative culture, offering a chance to contribute meaningfully while supporting the business’s scaling journey.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Control

  • Manage purchase and sales ledger activities, ensuring:
    • Accurate processing of invoices, payments, and customer billings
    • Timely and efficient transactions
  • Oversee month-end close processes, including:
    • Accruals, prepayments
    • Journal adjustments
    • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare bank, supplier, and credit card reconciliations while reinforcing financial controls
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency as the business grows

Requirements

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior finance role, with ownership of day-to-day finance operations and accounting
  • Expertise in financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end processes, and accrual accounting
  • Strong proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, SAP)
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and modelling
  • Exceptional organisational skills with laser-like attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
  • SME experience is essential—this role demands a hands-on, results-driven individual ready to take ownership
