Financial Controller

Financial Controller – Brand New Leadership Role in Liverpool

A well-established and rapidly growing manufacturing business has retained exclusive recruiting services for a commercial and motivational Finance Controller to lead a newly created leadership role based in Liverpool.


About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a business that has recently invested in a state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility – equipped with industry-leading technology.

The successful candidate will:

  • Shape the finance function from the ground up
  • Support operational excellence
  • Drive continued business growth

Initially, responsibilities include financial management of two legal entities with a combined annual turnover of ~£65m. With the business expanding, there is significant potential for career progression and increased scope.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses a breadth of strategic and operational finance duties, including:

  • Financial Leadership
    • Oversee financial control across two operating entities
    • Drive and ensure robust financial controls, governance and compliance

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis

    • Produce accurate, timely monthly management accounts and reporting packs
    • Deliver budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
    • Provide insightful analysis of:
      • Manufacturing costs
      • Margins
      • Operational KPIs
  • Operational Finance & Performance

    • Partner closely with operational and commercial teams to optimise financial performance
    • Support inventory management, stock control and working capital optimisation
    • Challenge and enhance finance processes, systems and reporting
  • Strategic & Operational Oversight

    • Lead the year-end audit process and statutory reporting requirements
    • Mentor and develop finance team members
    • Support strategic projects, business integration, acquisitions and site expansions

Ideal Candidate Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Proactive, commercially minded with strong technical accounting skills
  • Hands-on FinTech expertise preferred

Essential Experience

  • Proven Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager experience
  • Essential: Experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Bonus points for exposure to:
    • Distribution, logistics or supply chain operations
    • Inventory management, standard costing and manufacturing KPIs
