Financial Controller

Financial Controller – Cashflow & Financial Control

Location: Dundee, Scotland Salary: From £57,000.00 per year (Negotiable) Job Type: Full-time / Permanent / In Office

We are seeking a commercially-savvy and detail-oriented Financial Controller to drive the finance function in a business where financial discipline, rigorous cash control, and transparent reporting are paramount.

This is not an opportunity for someone looking to take over a pre-formed finance department. Instead, we need an experienced Financial Controller able to delve into operational detail, impose structure in a dynamic environment, and empower the business to make informed decisions regarding cash, costs, and performance.

As the finance leader, you will oversee a small team and manage the day-to-day operations, ensuring accurate reporting, clear cash visibility, and robust financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume full ownership of the Finance function and lead a team of three finance professionals
  • Oversee all accounting processes, including:
    • Sales and purchase ledgers
    • Billing
    • General ledger
    • Treasury operations
  • Produce accurate monthly management accounts, with clear accountability for:
    • Profit & loss (P&L) statements
    • Balance sheets
  • Implement and maintain ruthless discipline over:
    • Stock control
    • Reconciliations
    • Working-capital balance items
  • Develop and maintain a detailed weekly rolling cash flow forecast
  • Monitor cash activity closely, proactively identify risks, and drive practical solutions to secure liquidity
  • Work closely with operational leaders on:
    • Spending priorities
    • Overheads management
    • Payroll costs
    • Stock control
    • Financial performance analysis
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare regular forecasts/refinements
  • Drive efficiency improvements in:
    • Month-end and year-end close processes
  • Coordinate statutory accounting, tax filings, VAT compliance, and external audit
  • Strengthen:
    • Internal controls
    • Financial processes
    • Accounting policies
  • Elevate financial reporting, accountability, and transparency across the business
  • Provide clear, commercially-focused financial insights to senior leadership for effective decision-making

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
