Experienced Financial Controller (Multi-Site) | Care Sector
Watford / Rickmansworth / Harrow
£80,000 – £90,000 + Bonus
We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller / Finance Manager – this is not a role for someone who simply wants to oversee a team from a distance.
If you have multi-site / multi-entity finance experience and thrive in a hands-on environment, we'd love to hear from you.
Experience within care homes, healthcare or social care is highly desirable, and knowledge of Local Authority and NHS funding arrangements would be a significant advantage.
We're looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, getting into the detail, solving problems and building a first-class finance function. This is a role for a doer - someone who gets stuck in, creates structure, finds solutions and makes things happen.
About the Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established and growing care group operating several care homes, taking ownership of the finance function during an exciting period of improvement and development.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll have genuine influence across the business, helping to strengthen financial controls, improve reporting, enhance processes and provide meaningful financial insight to support operational performance.
This is a visible leadership role, but success won't come from sitting behind spreadsheets or simply delegating. We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding the detail, identifying issues before they become problems and driving improvements through to completion.
Duties
- Leading the finance function across multiple care homes and group companies.
- Producing accurate monthly management accounts and Board reporting.
- Improving financial controls, reconciliations and reporting processes.
- Driving improvements in cash flow, forecasting and credit control.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across the Group.
- Working closely with operational managers to improve financial performance.
- Developing KPIs and meaningful management information.
- Reviewing systems, identifying inefficiencies and implementing better ways of working.
- Leading and developing the finance team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day finance activities.
- Acting as a trusted finance partner to the Managing Director and Board.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
