Financial Controller | Fintech Lending | London Hybrid | £60,000–£80,000 + Equity
We’re working with a fast-growing London-based fintech lender who are hiring an urgent Financial Controller to join their growing finance function.
The business supports UK SMEs through innovative lending and cash-flow management products and has recently secured significant Series A funding. They are now entering a key scaling phase and are looking for a hands-on finance professional who can take ownership across reporting, controls, operations and process improvement.
This is a strong opportunity for a qualified accountant with a strong technical grounding who wants broader responsibility in a fast-moving fintech environment. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and help build a scalable finance function as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts and financial statements
- Support month-end close, balance-sheet reviews and financial reporting
- Support the annual audit process and work with external auditors
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
- Support cash-flow and working-capital oversight
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations
- Identify and implement improvements across finance processes, systems and reporting
- Work closely with non-finance stakeholders, providing clear and timely financial information

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
