Description:

We are hiring for our client, a well-established SME in the Greater Belfast area, who are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their senior leadership team.

This Financial Controller job is a key appointment for the business, reporting directly to the Managing Director and taking ownership of the finance function. The successful Financial Controller will play a hands-on role across financial reporting, controls, cashflow, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial decision support.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working closely with business owners, influencing decision-making, and adding real value within an SME environment.

The Role:

  • Lead and manage the finance function across the business
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and board-level information
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning
  • Review and improve financial controls, processes, and reporting systems
  • Provide commercial insight to support business performance and strategic decisions
  • Work closely with the MD and senior management team on financial planning
  • Oversee compliance, VAT, payroll, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, banks, auditors, and key stakeholders
  • Support operational teams with financial analysis and performance reporting

The Person:

  • Qualified Accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent
  • Strong experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or senior finance role
  • Previous experience within an SME environment would be highly beneficial
  • Commercially minded with the ability to support strategic decision-making
  • Strong technical accounting, reporting, and controls experience
  • Confident communicator who can work closely with senior leadership
  • Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in a broad finance role
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
