Financial Controller Opportunity
I am currently recruiting for a Financial Controller to join a purpose-led property development company at an exciting stage of its growth. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this is a newly created position offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the finance function.
This role offers an excellent blend of hands-on financial control, commercial finance, and strategic FP&A. Alongside leading the day-to-day finance team, you'll drive budgeting, forecasting, and business planning, while helping to build a high-performing, commercially focused finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the month-end process across multiple entities, ensuring robust financial controls and accurate reporting
- Producing monthly management accounts, financial reports, variance analysis, and insightful commentary
- Managing treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting and banking relationships
- Leading the annual budgeting process, alongside regular forecasting and scenario planning
- Supporting long-term business planning through financial modelling and strategic analysis
- Developing meaningful KPI reporting to provide clear insight into business performance
- Monitoring project expenditure against approved budgets and reviewing development appraisals
- Partnering closely with development and operational teams to provide commercial challenge and financial insight
- Preparing statutory accounts and coordinating the annual external audit
- Leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team, fostering a more commercially focused culture
- Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, and drive automation across the finance function
- Building strong relationships across the business to support informed decision-making

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance position, ideally within the property, real estate, or construction sectors. You'll have a proven track record of developing high-performing teams and transforming finance functions into commercially driven business partners.
