LHH Recruitment Solutions is delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded international law firm to appoint a Financial Controller to its UK finance team.
This is a high-profile opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of the UK financial control function within a prestigious global partnership. Reporting into senior finance leadership and working closely with stakeholders across the UK and international offices, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the firm.
The position offers a broad remit spanning financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit management, treasury, payroll, taxation, and financial controls, making it an ideal opportunity for an ambitious Financial Controller seeking a visible and influential role within a sophisticated professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of statutory accounts, year-end reporting processes, and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with UK tax regulations, including VAT reporting and corporate compliance requirements.
- Oversee financial accounting activities including reconciliations, journals, balance sheet reviews, and month-end close processes.
- Manage partner payroll, partner distributions, and associated financial reporting obligations.
- Review and strengthen financial controls, expense management, and accounts payable processes.
- Maintain banking relationships, treasury activities, user access controls, and corporate card administration.
- Produce accurate and insightful management reporting to support business decision-making.
- Take ownership of payroll operations, pensions administration, HMRC compliance, and year-end payroll reporting.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across the business to drive continuous improvement and best practice within the finance function.

About You

- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant.
- Strong technical accounting background with experience gained within a Top 10 accountancy firm and/or a complex professional services environment.
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Financial Accounting, or similar senior finance role.
- Previous exposure to the legal sector or wider professional services environment would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent understanding of UK GAAP, statutory reporting, audit processes, HMRC requirements, and SAR regulations.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience of working across multiple finance systems.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, with the confidence to engage effectively at senior level.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
