Financial Controller / Finance Director Designate / Succession plan to Finance Director
Super-Prime Residential Contractor | London | Salary guide £75,000 – £95,000 depending on experience

The Company

Our client is a well-established, privately owned, London-based super-prime residential contractor, delivering technically complex, high-end projects for private clients with a turnover of circa £30million.

With multiple divisions, a strong order book and ambitious growth plans, the business is entering an exciting new phase of expansion and is looking for a commercially minded finance professional to help shape its future.

The Opportunity

Hands on, you will be involved across all aspects of the finance function, supporting and challenging the commercial and operational teams, protecting margins, driving sustainable growth and strengthening overall business performance.

Working closely with current Finance Director and the owners, you will increase your exposure to strategic decision making and commercial operations. As your experience, knowledge and understanding of the business develops, the expectation is that you will take increasing ownership of the function.

The timeline for progression will depend on the individual and the evolving needs of the business but this appointment is part of a clearly defined succession plan.

About You

Potential matters more than experience. You might not tick every box today, but if you're ready to step up, we'd like to hear from you.

You will have:

  • Ideally, you will have experience within the construction industry, preferably with a contractor or within another project-led environment.
  • At least 10+ years' experience in a finance role
  • An accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of management accounts, cashflow, CIS, payroll, Tax and VAT
  • A hands on, detailed approach with a strong strategic mindset
  • A pragmatic and solutions orientated approach to financial operations
  • The ability to work collaboratively with commercial and operational teams
  • The drive to identify opportunities for improving processes and strengthening control
