Financial Controller - London (Hybrid) - Permanent - Up to £80,000

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function for a growing business, reporting to the FD. This is a hands-on role covering financial control, month-end reporting and team management, with genuine scope to influence process improvement and business decision-making as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely management accounts
  • Prepare statutory accounts and manage the year-end audit process, acting as primary liaison with external auditors
  • Own the balance sheet, including reconciliations and control account reviews
  • Manage and develop a small finance team, including transactional finance staff
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, corporation tax, and other statutory filing requirements
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles in partnership with the FD/CFO
  • Provide accurate, insightful financial information to support commercial decision-making
  • Manage relationships with external accountants, tax advisors, and auditors
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting tools

Essential

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
  • Proven experience operating at Financial Controller level, or a strong Senior Management Accountant ready to step up
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including UK GAAP/FRS 102
  • Experience managing or mentoring a finance team
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience owning the year-end audit process

Desirable

  • Experience in a PE-backed or high-growth business
  • Systems implementation or ERP migration experience
  • Exposure to a similar sector/industry
  • Experience presenting to senior stakeholders or investors
