Financial Controller

Location: Canary Wharf, London (Office-Based)

On behalf of our client, we are currently seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their finance team based in Canary Wharf. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional with a practice background to take ownership of a diverse client portfolio while leading financial operations, managing a finance team, and supporting business growth.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will manage a portfolio of clients, acting as their outsourced finance lead and ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls, and effective cash flow management. You will oversee the finance team, provide leadership and guidance, work closely with operational stakeholders, and deliver commercial financial insight to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and detailed overhead analysis.
  • Produce weekly financial performance reports, monitoring sales, labour costs, gross profit, and budget variances.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and liaise with external accountants.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
  • Partner with operational managers to monitor payroll, labour costs, and operational expenditure.
  • Oversee stock reporting and reconciliations between operational systems and accounting records.
  • Review payroll and ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, and payroll controls.
  • Manage supplier payments, purchase ledger processes, and creditor reconciliations.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the finance team, providing support, training, and guidance to ensure effective delivery of financial operations.
  • Drive continuous improvements to financial processes, systems, and controls.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, attending meetings and providing commercially focused financial support.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
