Financial Controller

Description

Bath Spa University is seeking an experienced finance leader to join us as Financial Controller. This is a pivotal senior role, responsible for supporting the university’s strategic need to be financially sustainable by creating and managing the financial control environment to ensure:

  • Financial information and reporting is accurate, timely, and relevant
  • Effective data-driven decision making is enabled

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will oversee:

  • Finance Services team
  • Management Accounts & Finance Business Partnering
  • Financial Accounting team

Ensuring the reporting and control environment for these areas is effective and efficient.


About You

We are looking for a technically strong qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA) with significant experience in financial control, including cash forecasting, ideally within:

  • Proven ability to lead and manage finance teams
  • Track record of developing and enhancing management accounts and related processes

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA)
  • Tenure in financial control, including cash forecasting experience
  • Evidence of developing and refining financial reporting processes
  • Strong leadership experience with a record of managing finance teams successfully

Desirable Experience

  • Prior higher education sector working experience
  • Assessment of a complex financial environment
