We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join our senior leadership team within our growing Power Pillar. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, strengthen financial performance, and support the continued growth of the business. Reporting directly to senior stakeholders, you will provide financial leadership, governance, insight, and challenge across the organisation. You will take ownership of financial planning, reporting, statutory compliance, cashflow management, risk management, and internal controls, while partnering closely with operational, commercial, and project teams to drive sustainable growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Business Partnering
Act as a trusted finance partner to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team. Provide financial insight, challenge, and support to aid strategic and operational decision-making. Collaborate with commercial, operational, and project teams to improve financial visibility and enhance margins.
Financial Control & Reporting
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Deliver high-quality management accounts and insightful monthly board reporting. Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, controls, and reporting across the Power Pillar. Maintain robust internal controls and ensure compliance with all financial governance requirements.

Cashflow & Performance Management
Lead cashflow reporting and forecasting activities across the business. Support senior leaders with budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, and performance analysis. Provide commercial insight to improve cost control, optimise cash generation, and support profit growth.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
Manage external audit requirements and ensure timely, clean audit delivery. Ensure compliance with VAT, CIS, and all relevant regulatory obligations. Oversee risk management and financial compliance activities.
Growth & Integration
Support the integration of future acquisitions into the finance function. Drive finance process and system improvements while embedding best practice across existing businesses.
About You
You are a qualified accountant with strong technical expertise and a proven track record of operating in a senior finance leadership role. You combine commercial acumen with excellent stakeholder management skills and can influence decision-making at executive and board level. Essential Experience & Skills

Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Director, or equivalent senior finance leader within an SME or divisional structure. Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP and statutory compliance. Proven experience delivering high-quality financial reporting and decision-support information. Significant expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis. Ability to interpret commercial and operational data to drive business performance. Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills. Experience presenting and communicating at Board level.
Desirable Experience
Background within infrastructure, utilities, engineering, construction, or related sectors. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Qualifications
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA). Strong post-qualification experience within a senior finance leadership role.
