Part-Time Financial Controller | Leeds

About the role

Are you an experienced Financial Controller looking for a flexible role where you can make a real commercial impact?

We partner with ambitious SMEs that need experienced finance professionals to support their growth. We're looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller to join our team on a self employed basis and work closely with one of our established manufacturing clients in Leeds, providing onsite finance leadership two days per week.

This isn't a traditional accounting role. You'll become a trusted finance partner to our client, helping their leadership team improve financial performance, strengthen controls and make informed strategic decisions, while enjoying the flexibility and variety of working as part of The Part-Time Finance People.

What You'll Be Doing

Working onsite with our client, you'll take ownership of the finance function while acting as a trusted adviser to the senior leadership team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Managing cash flow forecasting and working capital.
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining robust financial controls.
  • Developing and improving finance systems, reporting processes and internal controls.
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting and profitability analysis.
  • Providing commercial insight to support operational decision-making.
  • Monitoring business performance against financial objectives and KPIs.
  • Liaising with external accountants regarding year-end accounts and compliance.
  • Supporting strategic planning through financial modelling and business analysis.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and increase profitability.
  • Providing guidance and support to finance and administrative colleagues where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
