Role details
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a well-established organisation based in Herefordshire. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead the finance team and oversee the delivery of accurate financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, statutory compliance, and robust financial controls. You will be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, forecasts, and board reports, managing the annual audit and tax compliance, and providing financial insight to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities of the Financial Controller
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, providing day-to-day guidance, setting performance objectives, and fostering a high-performing culture.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly group management information reports and key performance indicators to inform senior leadership decisions.
- Review, analyse, and raise queries regarding subsidiary management information prepared by direct reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity across all submissions.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE, and P11D returns in line with statutory requirements.
- Produce weekly financial forecasts including detailed variance analysis for presentation at board meetings, contributing valuable insights into business performance.
- Manage daily cash flow monitoring and bank reconciliations, including preparing 12-month cash forecasts to ensure ongoing liquidity.
- Act as the lead contact for payroll year-end accounts and coordinate all activities related to the annual external audit process.
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department heads, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and financial targets.
