About The Role
Job Title: Financial Controller (Remote)
Location: Remote based in Ireland or Portugal
Travel: Occasional travel for company meetings
Terms: Permanent Contract
Schedule: Monday – Friday | Business hours
The Financial Controller will play a critical role in supporting the company’s rapid growth by building scalable financial processes, strengthening controls, and providing clear financial insight across multiple locations and client programs. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational finance experience in a people-intensive, multi-site BPO environment.
The Controller will partner closely with the CFO, operations, and client leadership teams to ensure financial discipline while enabling growth.
What You'll Be Doing
Financial Reporting & Month-End Processes
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across multiple legal entities and international locations
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet & Cashflow), management reports, and KPI dashboards
- Ensure consistent financial reporting across sites as the company scales
- Prepare detailed quarterly Board packs
- Drive continuous improvement in month end close timelines and reporting accuracy
Revenue Recognition & Billing
- Oversee revenue recognition for BPO contracts (FTE-based, transaction-based, hybrid models)
- Track client-level profitability, contribution margins, and cost drivers
- Support contract reviews, renewals, and pricing decisions with financial analysis
- Ensure billing accuracy aligned with SLAs, headcount, and utilization
- Ensure disciplined billing and collection processes as client volume increases
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes in a high-growth environment
- Partner with operations to forecast headcount, attrition, ramp-ups, and new site launches
- Build scalable financial models to support growth from 600 to +1,000 employees
- Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to leadership
Cost Control & Operational Finance
- Monitor and control labor costs (payroll, benefits, overtime, incentives), the primary cost driver in BPO and conduct monthly reviews with key business stakeholders
- Track location-level, program-level performance and client profitability reporting
- Identify margin improvement opportunities through cost optimization and efficiency gains

Working Capital Management
- Oversee AR/AP, client invoicing, and collections across multiple clients and geographies
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital needs during growth
- Review debtors and agree on recovery strategies
- Manage the timing of creditor payments and authorize payments in the bank.
Compliance, Controls & Audit
- Maintain strong internal controls appropriate for a scaling organization
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements across locations
- Lead internal and external audit processes
- Maintain assets registers in a remote business
- Establish and document financial policies and procedures that scale
Systems & Process Scalability
- Improve and standardize accounting systems, workflows, and controls
- Partner with CFO on ERP optimization or implementation as the company grows
- Automate and streamline processes to support multi-location operations
- Lead finance team projects with support from the finance team
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and grow the finance and accounting team
- Build a scalable structure that supports increased volume, complexity, and geographic expansion
- Become a trusted business partner across the organisation, representing the finance team on various projects
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Your Profile
About You
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA / CA / CMA strongly preferred)
- 8–12+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Prior experience in BPO, shared services, outsourcing, or labor-intensive service businesses strongly preferred
- Proven experience supporting rapid growth and multi-location operations
- Strong operational and analytical mindset
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Ability to balance hands-on execution with strategic thinking
- Excellent communication skills with finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Advanced Excel and ERP experience
This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health and strategic direction of the company, requiring a proactive and detail-oriented leader to drive financial excellence.
