The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established, privately owned, London-based super-prime residential construction business. They deliver technically complex, high-end projects for private clients, with multiple divisions, a strong order book, and ambitious growth plans.
In its exciting new phase of expansion, the business seeks a commercially minded finance professional to help shape its future. This role involves strategic decision-making, commercial operations, and business growth initiatives, laying the groundwork for progression into a Future Finance Director position within a clearly defined succession plan.
The progression timeline will vary, but this appointment is designed to develop key leaders and nurture their growth into senior finance roles.
The Role
As a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager, you will:
- Report directly to the Financial Director, influencing all aspects of the finance function in a growing, project-led business.
- Drive sustainable growth, protect profit margins, and strengthen overall business performance.
- Balance day-to-day financial management with broader responsibilities across:
- Financial control
- Project accounting
- Cashflow management
- Regulatory compliance
- Financial reporting

Collaborate closely with operational and commercial teams to support strategic decision-making, ensuring:
- Project profitability improves
- Business performance is optimised
- Meaningful financial insights are delivered
- Processes are enhanced

Gradually take increasing ownership of the finance function as experience and understanding of the business grow.
About You
Potential matters more than experience: You may not tick every box immediately, but if bright, commercially minded, and eager to step up, we’d welcome your application.
You’ll need:
- A background in construction, contracting, or project-led finance (essential).
- 10+ years’ finance experience.
- A relevant professional qualification, such as:
- ACA
- ACCA
- CIMA
- AAT
- (Part-qualified candidates will be strong contenders)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Management accounts
- Cashflow management
- CIS compliance
- Payroll
- VAT & tax
- The ability to:
- Work independently
- Influence stakeholders
- Drive process improvements
