Financial Controller Purchase to Pay

Function: Finance

Location: St Andrews Square based – hybrid home & office working

Salary: circa £62,920 base depending on experience, plus full benefits listed below.

Contract: 12 mnth Fixed Term Contract

About The Role

We’ve an excellent opportunity for a PtP Controller to join the wider Reporting and Accounting team in our head office in Edinburgh. The role involves:

  • Leading the day-to-day operations of the UK PtP team (managing 3 people)
  • Business partnering the Heineken UK purchasing population across all functions
  • Ensuring appropriate PtP risk controls are in place to deliver ongoing performance and liability quality relating to Heineken UK’s trade payables
  • Acting as a key point of contact for PtP colleagues in our shared service centres in Krakow and India

The PtP Financial Controller Will

  • Support the Head of Reporting & Accounting – overseeing financial reporting of the PtP Sub-Ledger liabilities from Aged Creditors, GRIR & Invoice Management across both the HUK (SAP) ERP and Star Pubs ERP
  • Provide the Head of Reporting & Accounting with assurances on the quality and in the particular the ageing of the company’s liabilities within Payables to assist with proper accounting and good cash flow management
  • Be responsible for the direct line management, development and coaching of 3 x Finance Analysts
  • Ensure all day to day and routine PtP team tasks are completed within SLAs
  • Business partner any section of the business that requires the ability to purchase goods or services. This will range to all levels, locations and functions within the business
  • Produce meaningful and insightful management reporting to inform commercial performance and working capital decision-making
  • Make informed decisions around payment for example: exercise delegated payment authorisation, prompt payment ahead of contractual terms, and cash management in conjunction with the Treasury Control
  • Operate as a point of escalation for issues with internal /external stakeholders
  • Ensure all operational activities are carried out in line with HUK Procurement Policy
  • Provide guidance/support to own team and Team Leaders in HGSS to drive the of quality of PtP in line with procurement policy and procedures, protecting Heineken’s assets and within the aim of Making Cash Count to improve Heineken’s productivity.

Who We’re Looking For?

A Strong People And Process Manager Who Is

  • An effective communicator
  • Enjoys working as part of a team and managing people
  • Can develop strong working relationships and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Have advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, large data manipulation)
  • Have excellent analytical skills with an enquiring mindset
  • Are motivated by continuous process and control improvement and efficiency

Experience Working

Other skills that would be beneficial although not required:

  • In PTP, Accounts Payable or a similar function
  • With a major ERP system (i.e. SAP, Oracle, Business Central etc) or with other sub ledger system
  • With processing teams based in remote share service centres
  • Involvement in a prior system migration, implementation, or major upgrade, this would be advantageous and familiarity with data governance and data integrity principles are also beneficial
  • Experience within FMCG or a large organisation would be preferable.

Our Ways of Working

Our office sites operate a hybrid model. You’ll spend Tuesdays, Thursdays and one other day in the office and two days from home, although but you’re more than welcome to come and work from the office on those days too.
