About the Role

We're partnering with a well-established real estate investment and asset management business responsible for overseeing approximately £6bn of real estate and lending assets on behalf of a diverse investor base. The business operates across multiple fund and corporate structures and has established itself as a respected participant within the real estate investment market.

As the organisation continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of financial control, reporting, compliance and governance across multiple fund and corporate structures.

This is a highly visible leadership position offering exposure to fund management, investor reporting, regulatory compliance, board reporting and strategic business initiatives.

The Role

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Leading quarterly management reporting across multiple fund and corporate entities
  • Overseeing the production of annual statutory accounts and ensuring all filings are completed on time
  • Managing external audit processes and acting as the primary contact for auditors
  • Overseeing investor valuations and quarterly distributions
  • Ensuring accurate and timely bank covenant reporting
  • Monitoring developments in tax, accounting and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice

Tax, Compliance & Risk

  • Overseeing VAT, CIS, P11D and PSA compliance processes
  • Acting as MLRO and Compliance Officer, maintaining robust AML, risk management and governance frameworks across the business
  • Reviewing and approving client due diligence processes
  • Supporting the development and implementation of AML policies and procedures
  • Delivering annual compliance and AML training
  • Managing risk reporting and ongoing compliance monitoring

Treasury & Cashflow Management

  • Leading cashflow forecasting and liquidity management
  • Overseeing payment processes and funding requests
  • Managing banking relationships and financial controls
  • Supporting arrears management and credit control activities
  • Managing dividend processes where required

Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Leading the annual budgeting process
  • Producing quarterly forecasts and reforecasts
  • Supporting commercial decision-making and financial planning initiatives
  • Identifying opportunities for tax and VAT optimisation

Payroll, Benefits & Insurance

  • Overseeing payroll processes and associated controls
  • Managing employee benefit schemes and salary sacrifice arrangements
  • Coordinating insurance renewals and corporate insurance programmes

Governance & Stakeholder Management

  • Preparing and presenting reports to senior leadership, boards and governance committees
  • Attending board meetings and contributing to strategic discussions
  • Responding to investor and stakeholder enquiries
  • Supporting strategic projects, joint ventures and wider business initiatives

  • Maintaining strong financial controls and governance procedures
  • Reviewing financial systems and processes to drive efficiency and reduce risk
  • Overseeing supplier approval processes
  • Supporting the financial oversight of technology and operational initiatives

About You

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
  • Significant financial control experience within real estate investment, asset management, fund management or alternative investment structures
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, statutory reporting and audit management
  • Experience working with fund structures, investor reporting, valuations and distributions
  • Hands-on tax compliance experience including VAT and CIS
  • AML, risk management and compliance expertise, ideally including MLRO responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of investor reporting and complex multi-entity environments
  • Previous exposure to regulated businesses, governance frameworks and compliance responsibilities
  • Strong cashflow, treasury, budgeting and forecasting capability
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting at board level
