Financial Controller - 5 Month Contract - £400 – £500 per day (Outside IR35) – Didcot, Oxfordshire, (Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office)
FryerMiles is delighted to be supporting a growing, private equity-backed organisation who is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support the senior finance leadership team during an exciting period of growth, business transformation and acquisition activity.
This is a hands-on role for a commercially minded finance professional who can quickly add value across financial reporting, financial controls, process improvement and team support. You'll play a key role in ensuring the finance function continues to operate efficiently while supporting strategic business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly management accounts process across multiple legal entities.
- Manage and deliver an accurate and timely month-end close.
- Produce high-quality management reporting, including budget variance analysis and financial insights.
- Monitor cash flow and identify opportunities to improve working capital, including debtors, creditors and inventory.
- Support year-end audit activities and act as a key contact for external auditors.
- Assist with financial due diligence and finance support for acquisitions.
- Help optimise finance systems and processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and controls.
- Strengthen financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Provide guidance and support to members of the finance team.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to provide financial insight and commercial support.

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar leadership role.
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable working at both a strategic and operational level.
- Experience operating within fast-paced and changing environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems.
- Experience supporting ERP implementations or finance system migrations.
- Previous experience within a private equity-backed business.
- Exposure to acquisitions, integrations or financial due diligence.
