A bit about the role...
We are looking for an experienced and driven Financial Controller to join our finance team, reporting to the Head of Finance. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for strengthening and professionalising the finance function. You will ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting, maintain a strong financial control environment and provide technical accounting leadership across the business. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a critical role in supporting business performance, driving improvements and ensuring robust financial governance as the business continues to grow.
What you will be responsible for...
- Owning the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes
- Ensuring accurate and timely month end and year end close
- Reviewing management accounts and ensuring high quality financial insight for senior leadership
- Maintaining strong balance sheet controls, including reconciliations and review processes
- Developing and strengthening internal controls across the business
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Acting as the technical accounting lead, advising on new and complex transactions
- Leading the preparation of statutory accounts and managing the external audit process
- Overseeing cash reporting, working capital and balance sheet performance
- Identifying financial risks and implementing appropriate controls and mitigations
- Leading, coaching and developing members of the finance team
- Driving continuous improvement in finance processes, systems and ways of working
- Building strong relationships across operational teams to support effective decision making

What we’d like from you...
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified accountant
- Significant post-qualification experience in a financial control or similar role
- Proven experience delivering accurate, timely financial reporting in a complex or growing organisation
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP / IFRS)
- Experience of improving financial controls, processes and reporting standards
- Experience managing or mentoring finance teams
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior level
- Experience working with external auditors and delivering statutory accounts
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems / ERP platforms
- A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and accountability
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-finance stakeholders
