This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing multi-site business at a pivotal moment in its development. The organisation has seen significant growth in recent years. As a result, they are looking to bring in an experienced and commercially astute finance professional to take ownership of the group's financial reporting.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this is a broad and senior role that combines technical accounting rigour with genuine business partnering. You will take full ownership of the management accounts across all group entities, lead a team of four, and act as a trusted financial voice to senior leadership and operational site teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end financial reporting across all group sites, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and consistency in reporting standards and controls
- Take full responsibility for the management accounts across central group companies, including preparation of central P&Ls for review by WD4
- Prepare and review the group VAT return
- Manage intercompany journals and maintain the intercompany matrix, ensuring all reconciliations are kept up to date
- Ensure balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled on a monthly basis, supporting management accountants across their entities
- Deliver accurate, consolidated management information by WD10 each month, with meaningful commentary on variances to budget
- Business partner with senior leadership and operational site managers, turning financial data into actionable insight to improve EBITDA performance
- Manage, coach, and develop four direct reports, including ownership of the performance appraisal process
- Act as the primary point of contact for audit requests, ensuring the business is always audit-ready with no gaps in documentation or accounting treatment

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
