Financial Controller | Manchester City Centre | Hybrid
Up to £90,000 + significant equity incentive
We're recruiting a Financial Controller for a listed North West technology business that has spent the last two years transforming itself into an AI-enabled organisation.
The business now delivers AI-enabled technology services to its customers and is seeing the benefits in growth, customer service, and profitability. What's particularly interesting is what has happened within the finance function.
Few finance functions have embraced AI to the same extent as this business. As technology takes on more of the processing and reporting work, the emphasis of the role has shifted towards interpretation, commercial insight, business partnering, and decision support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
This is therefore a broader Financial Controller role than many in the market. Whilst strong financial control and reporting skills remain important, the successful candidate will also play a key role in FP&A, commercial finance, and business partnering activities, leading a team of six. The role reports to the CFO.
We're looking for a qualified accountant with:
- Strong financial control and reporting experience
- Commercial finance, FP&A, and business partnering capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High levels of curiosity and a desire to learn
- An interest in technology and how AI can improve business performance

Previous experience using AI tools would be advantageous, but attitude and mindset are likely to be more important than technical expertise.
The role offers the opportunity to join a business that is genuinely at the forefront of AI adoption, helping shape the future development of an already highly advanced finance function.
The package includes a meaningful opportunity to participate in the value you help create through a substantial equity-linked incentive plan.
