Job Title: Financial Controls Manager
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £58,609.72 per annum (£64,720.63 per annum after 12-month successful performance)
Working Hours: 35 Hours per week Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, Hybrid Location: Speke, Liverpool

The Difference You Will Make
As a Financial Controls Manager, you’ll:
- Work with key finance stakeholders to develop and implement financial controls across TRGL.
- Lead the preparation, review, and implementation of policies to create a sound financial control framework.
- Identify financial risks and assess control adequacy, implementing action plans to address them.
About You
Essential Requirements
- Recognised accountancy qualification (ideally FCA or ACA).
- Experience in audit or risk.
- Strong technical accounting skills.
- Knowledge of financial controls.
- Experience with financial accounting systems.
- Advanced MS Excel proficiency.
Desirable Traits
- Customer-focused with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to deliver meaningful management information.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage priorities.
- Results-driven mindset.

Role Profile
- Support Head of Financial Accounting & Finance Director to ensure process compliance with accounting standards.
- Review & enhance finance controls, identifying risks and implementing action plans.
- Conduct control testing across finance, reporting findings to senior teams.
- Collaborate with finance & non-finance colleagues to implement financial controls.
- Develop systems enhancements, improving internal control integrity.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses and audits of controls across financial outputs (P2P, revenue, regulatory reports).
- Embed effective internal controls frameworks while improving efficiency and data quality.
- Ensure month-end processes (reconciliations, journals) are executed accurately.
- Test journals to verify accuracy and adherence to controls.
- Monitor unresolved issues and track remediation progress (including audit observations).
- Promote financial control awareness within finance teams.
- Support projects/ new business initiatives, ensuring adopted processes.
- Assist with routine & ad-hoc financial reporting.
- Build relationships with internal/external stakeholders (Audit, Risk, auditors).
- Ensure compliance with data protection & health/safety policies.
- Champion ‘Our Riverside Way’ (collaborative, solution-driven culture).
- Develop teams & departments to meet strategic goals, positively impacting customers.

Person Specification
Essential
- Accountancy qualification (FCA/ACA preferred).
- Audit/risk experience.
- Strong technical accounting & financial control knowledge.
- Experience with financial accounting systems.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Customer-focused communication (written/verbal).
- Analytical & results-driven, with detail orientation.
- Effective stakeholder management (internal/external).
Desirable
- Degree or equivalent in a related field.
- Experience from Big 4 firms.
- Knowledge of SixSigma/Lean/process improvement methodologies.
- Sector experience in housing/social care.
- Ongoing professional development.
