Key Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise, advice, and counsel to the First Line of Defence on:
- Financial crime risk
- Regulatory expectations
- Policies and procedures
- Support the Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in investigating, escalating, and reporting suspicious activity and other material financial crime concerns as required
- Contribute to the enhancement and continuous improvement of the financial crime framework, including:
- Policies
- Procedures
- Systems
- Controls
- Governance processes
- Assist in delivering the annual financial crime compliance monitoring programme by:
- Conducting high-standard monitoring activities (e.g., High Risk review, High-risk onboard quality assurance)
- Producing timely results
- Proactively identify control gaps and weaknesses, determine root causes, and escalate with viable solutions to mitigate identified risks
- Work with the Deputy MLRO to:
- Agree action plans with the business based on monitoring findings
- Facilitate follow-up to ensure risks are mitigated as per agreed plans
- Evidence and document rationale for risk closure
- Provide support in completing annual Business Wide Risk Assessments
- Produce or assist with relevant financial crime reporting and management information (MI) to inform:
- Management, internal committees, Executive Committee, Board, and Handelsbanken Group stakeholders
- Contribute to horizon scanning activities to assess emerging trends in:
- Financial crime typologies
- Regulatory developments
- Industry best practices, and their potential impacts
- Assist in training and educating the business on relevant financial crime matters
- Champion a strong compliance culture within Hwealth Advisors (HWAM), helping teams manage compliance risks effectively
- Maintain an independent, objective view of internal practices while fostering constructive relationships with decision-makers
- Provide secretariat support (as required) to the Financial Crime Prevention Committee (chaired by the MLRO)

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate has:
- Previous experience working in small to medium asset wealth management firms, demonstrating ability to function as a financial crime generalist with broad responsibilities
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial crime prevention or compliance—including at least 3 years in a Second Line of Defence (2LOD) function
- Experience in:
- Assessing financial crime controls independently
- Conducting quality assurance testing
- Performing compliance monitoring reviews
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills to effectively influence decision-makers across departments
- A proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Confidence in making informed decisions when required
- Commitment to self-driven development
- Adaptable, resilient, and comfortable operating within a growing and evolving business
- High ethical and moral standards
- Organised approach, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
