Financial Crime Investigations Role

Join us as an Investment Bank Financial Crime Investigations professional, where you will be responsible for handling:

  • Money laundering
  • Bribery
  • Corruption
  • Sanctions investigations carried out as part of the first line of defence.

This exciting role is accountable for ensuring compliance with global financial crime regulatory standards while enabling sustainable business growth.

You will:

  • Perform financial crime investigations across:
    • Banking
    • Markets
    • International Corporate Bank
  • Ensure the bank meets regulatory expectations and internal standards

Key Accountabilities:

  • Executing financial crime investigations across a range of financial crime typologies
  • Conducting manual reviews (including):
    • Negative media referrals
    • Referrals from internal/external sources
  • Contributing to:
    • Design and maintenance of investigative procedures
    • Quality assurance frameworks
    • Risk-based methodologies
  • Ensuring:
    • Adherence to AML and Global Sanctions requirements
    • Compliance with internal policies and standards
  • Driving continuous improvement in investigative controls by leveraging:
    • Data analytics
    • Emerging technologies
  • Managing stakeholder relationships effectively

Success Criteria:

Experience & Knowledge

  • Demonstrable experience within:
    • The banking industry
    • Broader financial services sector
  • Significant investigations experience with financial crime investigations
  • Robust understanding of:
    • Investment banking products
    • Stock markets
  • Developed communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with trade surveillance systems
  • Understanding of:
    • Investment Banking
    • International Corporate Banking
  • Experience in handling and assessing complex datasets
  • Project change delivery and transformation experience
  • Qualifications such as:
    • ACAMS
    • ICA

About the Role

Purpose: Provide data-led expert oversight and challenge business/compliance matters to evidence compliance with Barclays’ legal, regulatory and ethical responsibilities.

Accountabilities:

  • Identification & assessment of compliance risks through rigorous reviews of:
    • Business activities
    • Changes
    • Processes
    • Testing
    • Systems
  • Investigation for potential market abuse, including:
    • Insider dealing
    • Unlawful disclosure
    • Market manipulation
    • Anti-competitive conduct
  • Investigation of compliance risk events or breaches
  • Oversight and challenge of corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Implementation of compliance policies/procedures aligned with:
    • Regulatory requirements
    • International standards (including jurisdictional requirements)
  • Collaboration with:
    • 1LOD teams
    • Relevant Compliance teams
    • Legal departments
    • Risk management functions
  • Investigation and oversight of:
    • Money laundering
    • Terrorist financing
    • Other financial crimes

  • Guide technical direction on relevant assignments
