Based in the Nottingham area, our client is a globally recognised provider of specialist engineered solutions and services employing 350+ across UK locations. Private Equity ownership has underpinned commercial growth and increasing UK market share. With a mix of complex product installation and services across multiple sites, the company is noted for excellence in engineering and service standards, as well as sustainability credentials. As a UK market challenger with compelling new products, the requirement is for a commercial Finance Director to help turbocharge performance and reporting through the next phase of growth, with high-profile projects already under way. Role to build on strong market reputation and performance credentials through proactive, motivating alignment of operations, finance and commercial / governance, embracing IT and procurement locally as well. Compelling opportunity for enterprising, hands-on finance leader with international ambitions, and with a blend of large and smaller company experience to enable enhanced commercial outcomes.

  • P+L responsibility and provision of commercial, strategic, financial support, building on multi-site operations excellence
  • Empower and energise 16+ finance / commercial team through transformation, building collaborative culture
  • Refine, enhance and embed process and metrics transparency and reliability, aligned to regional and global BUs
  • Proactively build engagement across operations teams to enhance project / service decision-making and performance
  • Cross-functional impact alongside MD to optimise analytics and improve KPIs; become exemplar for other BUs
  • Guardian and ambassador for accurate, transparent, reliable planning and performance, and for sustainability reporting
  • Drive optimised operating model using platforms to the full; motivate and mentor dispersed teams to next level
  • Challenging, hands-on FD remit with international growth potential; set business up meticulously for the future.

The Ideal Candidate

  • 5+ years’ proven Finance Director success with £30m+ accountability, national / international scope at scale and pace
  • Demonstrable record of commercial / process transformation across complex industrial products, projects and service business(es), possibly in engineering, manufacturing, building technologies, infrastructure and similar
  • Ideally blend of corporate and mid-size experience for strategic perspective and hands-on accountability
  • Consistent record of developing / energising high-performing finance teams with entrepreneurial spirit, commercial focus
  • Full command of all finance / commercial disciplines for total reliability, including corporate governance dimension
  • Top-notch platform deployment and analytics skills / appetite; able to articulate commercial outcomes via process rigour
  • Proactive, ambitious leader and influencer; incisive communicator and mentor with appetite to be as hands-on as it takes
  • Exposure to international matrix undergoing change and integration, ideally experienced in procurement and IT leadership
  • Strong detail focus, proven gravitas and passion for excellence and for the team; international frame of reference
  • Professional accountancy and finance qualification; accustomed to accountability, transparency and top-level standards.
