Finance Director – Hybrid Working (4 Days On-Site)
About the Opportunity
Reed is exclusively recruiting for a Finance Director for a client based in the Medway area. This is a critical leadership role where you will take full autonomy and control within a fast-growing, innovative business.
This pivotal position enables you to shape the financial future of a well-established, international-backed SME with a strong industry presence. As the primary owner of the finance function, you will lead strategy, performance, and sustainable growth while driving both commercial profitability and operational excellence.

Our client is a market-leading supplier in its sector, with:
- A turnover of approximately £24m
- Around 60 employees across multiple UK locations
The business operates within a global framework, offering forward-thinking growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the MD and executive leadership team to shape, develop, and execute business strategy
- Provide commercial insights for pricing, investment, and growth initiatives
- Lead budgeting and forecasting while aligning with long-term financial planning
- Identify cost-saving and profitability improvement opportunities
Financial Control & Performance
- Oversee monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial controls
- Ensure strict compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Lead audit processes and maintain a robust governance framework

Business Partnering & Reporting
- Deliver data-driven management information (MI) and KPIs to support decision-making
- Analyse financial performance, identifying risks and growth opportunities
- Develop custom dashboards/reporting tools for senior stakeholders
Leadership & Operational Oversight
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring high performance
- Oversee HR and Health & Safety operations (with external support as needed)
- Provide overall operational leadership for finance and stakeholders
Systems & Transformation
- Drive refinements in financial systems and processes
- Lead the next-generation ERP transformation project over the coming 24 months
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the key liaison for group finance, auditors, and banking partners
- Present financial results, budgets, and investment plans to senior executives
Person Specification
Essential
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Proven experience in a senior finance role within SMEs (£10m - £50m turnover preferred)
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to business partner effectively at both strategy and operational levels
- Hands-on leadership style, comfortable managing teams and driving performance
- Advanced analytical skills with practical experience in financial modelling
- ERP implementation or finance transformation experience

- Manufacturing, warehousing or logistics sector background
- Experience in cross-functional HR matters (staffing, systems, culture)
