Finance Director – Exclusively retained through Hawthorn One
The Business
Family-owned for over a century, this £20M+ turnover international manufacturing business was built on excellence in its core product. Now scaling globally, it supplies premium products to iconic brands, boasts 10%+ annual growth, is debt-free, and operates with a strong cash position.
Recent years have seen expanded manufacturing capacity, modernisation, and reinforced commercial leadership. Growth opportunities are being actively pursued to drive further revenue.
The need remains for financial leadership to align with the business’s next phase: strategic reporting, capital deployment, systems, and stakeholder advisory.
The Finance Director Job
A full-time, site-based role reporting directly to the MD and Chairman, making this person the most senior financial authority in the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the financial agenda—from monthly management accounts to budgeting/forecasting, ensuring real strategic insight.
- Drive capital deployment strategy working alongside the MD to evaluate and execute growth plans.
- Be the trusted finance partner to the leadership, lending expertise across sales, operations, and international entities.
- Oversee commercial, strategic, and operational financial decision-making.

The Finance Director Job Requirements
- A Finance Director with experience in manufacturing—evidence of practical, hands-on financial strategies.
- Chartered accountant qualification only (ACA, CIMA, ACCA only; QBE not considered).
- Strong commercial instincts: Ability to extract actionable insights from financials beyond basic reporting.
- Boardroom and floor presence: Confident in dealing with sales executives, leadership, and factory operations.
- Philosophical alignment: Respects the family-business heritage, trusts in cultural integrity, and brings energy + discipline to future growth.

Salary & Benefits
- Starting salary: £100,000 (negotiable based on experience).
- Performance-based bonus.
- 11% pension.
